Registries
I have done a lot of research on this, I am having a hard time deciding where to register. So where have you all registered and which places did you like the best. I am so overwhelmed by this. I had no idea how much time this would take!
My other question, is it rude to have a deposit a gift account and send out to our family, instead of doing a registry. We both have lived on our own for a couple of years now so we have the majority of things that we need. Another I found our wishing well.
An idea of items we are looking for include:
- Fancy Dish set
- A couple of cooking items
- Vacuum (haven't bought a new one since college it barely picks anything up)
Other than that, we are wanting to buy a house, which I feel most couples are wanting to do, but I would think it is rude to have an account set up, where as my family thinks it isn't rude. Because we are doing a destination wedding, I don't want people to think we are sending them an invitation, because we want money. We are having a "reception" party when we return, very low key, but to celebrate with family and friends who couldn't join us.

Sounds like we have similar problem. We have several registries, but our main one is a honeymoon registry with honeyfund.com. It's free which is nice, and we really need help with the honeymoon, but you might consider doing one so that you can put the money you would spend on a honeymoon toward a house. And I don't think it's rude to do a "please send us money" registry, but I get the feeling I'm more liberally minded than many in this area.
ReplyDeleteAs for the other stuff, I'd say a department store like Macy's would be your best bet. You don't have to do a huge registry, just register for the stuff you need, and you can do something else for the main registry.
We registered at Target and as great as it was for everyone to buy stuff from there, it was really hard to return things. You had to print out your registry, and only if the items were on the list could you return them for full value price. It was a little stressful (we had to return a Blu-ray player, and a ton of expensive stuff)
ReplyDeleteBut I will say this, I wouldn't register at more than 2 places. We got tired after just Target, so I would only register for specific things at specific places but Target is nice for the prices that are great for everyone ;)
